Align Christ-centered yoga classes are designed to offer participants a quiet space to worship, pray and meditate on God’s Word while we move and breath. You can expect Christian music, suggestions to movements and stretches that fit all levels of athletic ability. Every class, the instructor will share some passages in scripture to guide your meditation. In Acts 17:28, it says, it is in Christ that we live and move and have our being. Class time is a space for you to move away the busyness of our daily lives, and to reconnect mind, body, spirit and soul with God in prayer and movement.
Traditional yoga originated from Northern India teaching the sacrifice of the ego through self-knowledge, action (karma yoga) and wisdom (jnana yoga). Modern day yoga incorporates strengthening the human body through a lot of breathing, stretching and movements that help to increase flexibility, muscle strength and tone, improve respiration, energy and vitality, maintain a balanced metabolism, help with weight reduction, improve cardio and circulatory health, improve athletic performance, and protect oneself from injury. Overall, there are a lot of health benefits to taking yoga classes, HOWEVER, the major drawback is that the focus is on mantras that come from another belief and NOT focused on the one true living God.
Align Christ-Centered Yoga is a Christian yoga practice that “Aligns” your heart, mind, body and soul to Jesus
through breath and movement (Mark 12:30). During class, you can expect to meditate on biblical scripture as you practice breathing, stretching and balancing while listening to Christian music. Cultivate a discipline to “Be still” and “Know” that He is God on the yoga mat, as you are led to worship Him, with your entire being.
